This fantasy image tutorial is a continuation from the ‘pen tool’ that we looked at in an earlier photoshop tutorial.
In this tutorial, I have already cut out all the images ready for use, to save time, but if you haven’t yet mastered the pen tool, the pen tool, lessons are still available, we make it easy for you easy to go back and catch up!
Creating and making up a fantasy image in Adobe Photoshop can be as easy as you want it to be, or you can go more extreame adding layer after layer to create something much more complex and possibly rewarding in the final image.The only limits are in your imagination.
In this creative tutorial, we are making things simple, working with only a few layers and a handfull of images. We will use various brushes and you will see its better to use them on their own layers so as to keep your image clear in case of mistakes you may make. Its always worthwile creating duplicate layers of images that you want to alter, and layers are the basics of making that image work.

Choosing the images you want to use can be the hardest part. It helps to know what you want to create to begin with, though often the picture just grows in your mind as you begin to work and add more and more layers to your canvas.
Once you have chosen a selection of images for use, its handy to have them either pre opened at the bottom of your program, or to have them sitting in your recently used files. It just makes for easy organisation.
Start off by creating a new file, from there on you can import your chosen images onto your canvas by using the ‘move tool, dragging and dropping each image in turn as you require them.
You can alter the image position in the layers palette if you need to by placing either above or behind as the picture takes shape.
Here we are creating a magical fantasy scene of a child and her dog, sitting on some steps with some fairy dust sprinkled around. You can choose and use any images that best suit you, including any images from our free stock image section.
This tutorial involves using layers, you can create as many as you need as you go along, this lesson is a guide which you will be able to build on and expand as your confidence with Adobe Photoshop grows.
